Dr. Oz Ended The Dr. Oz Show To Pursue Politics
Oz's TV show received underwhelming public ratings
Given the relative success of Dr. Oz's TV show, The Dr. Oz Show, many viewers wondered why it was abruptly canceled. With The Dr. Oz Show receiving an overall 3.8 rating out of 10 stars on IMDb, it's clear that not everyone was a fan of the host; his highest-rated episode received a 6.0 from viewers.
It turned out that Dr. Oz chose to cancel his show — even after a planned two-season renewal in 2021 — to pursue a completely different career.
Oz did prepare for his departure from daytime TV though; he arranged for his daughter to 'take over' his show, but Daphne Oz's The Good Dish was canceled in 2022.

RelatedThe Truth About Whoopi Goldberg's Bizarre Relationship With Dr. Oz
Dr. Oz seems to think he's friends with Whoopi Goldberg but after his Senate plans, it seems like 'The View' star is feeling indifferent.Immediately after Oz declared he was running for the Republican nomination for the US Senate (in Pennsylvania), he was seemingly canceled by various outlets and organizations.
Some of the 'canceling' made sense; various TV stations said they would take The Dr. Oz Show off the air due to rules about candidates having equal air time. Oz was also fired from a Presidential council on "Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition" because of his candidacy; President Biden reportedly asked both Oz and Herschel Walker (a Republican Senate candidate in Georgia) to resign, or they would be terminated.
Not every 'cancelation' was due to political guidelines, however. Mehmet Oz was removed from Columbia University's media materials. He was also dragged by the public for apparently tone-deaf comments on grocery prices while shopping for ingredients for crudités, among other commentary.
Oz has also been backed by former President Donald Trump, who apparently encouraged Oz to declare victory while election votes were still being counted; Oz did so, but he later lost the Senate race to his opponent, John Fetterman.
How Is Dr. Oz Making Money Now?
Dr. Oz is still earning millions of dollars today
Right before his show was canceled, in 2020, Mehmet Oz was worth around $100 million. Today, he's said to be worth about $200 million, although it's unclear where the figure comes from. Had he achieved the Senate seat he was hoping for in 2022, Oz would have been one of the wealthiest members of Congress.
Official documents related to Oz's Senate run are vague but indicate that Oz could have been worth anywhere from $100 to $500 million.
Ending his TV show didn't stop Oz's cash flow, but how exactly is he making money today?
According to those same official financial disclosure forms, Mehmet Oz has various streams of income that stem from multiple LLCs. Oz has at least two media production companies and a property company, though Hollywood Reporter indicated that Oz's income largely stems from his TV show, even after its demise.
Oz also made almost $300K from his guest host gig on Jeopardy!, so he may find more work in television if viewers don't protest his participation (Jeopardy! fans were not happy about Oz's guest hosting role).
It's also possible that Oz will revive his career in medicine; though many claimed Dr. Oz was not qualified to give medical advice thanks to much of his 'medicine' being labeled as pseudoscience, he is technically a doctor.
Although he doesn't have a TV show any longer, Dr. Oz is still a celebrated member of many medical-adjacent communities; in December 2023, he spoke at a "longevity conference," which fans were thrilled about.
Oz also spoke out against companies that were allegedly stealing his identity to sell products while promoting an online supplement shop. It's safe to assume that some of Oz's income stems from such affiliations, as his Instagram does feature recurring promotional pieces for iHerb and other brands.
Currently, Dr. Oz has not announced plans to run for political office again.
